Lining vs shell: keep the brief separate
A lining brief usually prioritizes smooth face behavior, seam friendliness, and compatibility with the outer shell package. A shell or dress brief usually prioritizes motif presentation, drape on the body, and how the pattern survives cutting and styling.
Send both the garment type and the fabric role in the first message so we do not start sampling from the wrong family assumptions. This is one of the most common RFQ repairs we see in apparel jacquard sourcing.
What should you confirm before sampling?
- State garment type and fabric role: lining or shell.
- Share reference photos or existing fabric swatches.
- Provide preferred motif scale and unacceptable looks.
- Note assumed width and any GSM or handfeel reference.
- Ask for sample or color-card review before bulk planning.
- Freeze an approved reference cloth before production discussion.
